Frequently Asked Questions
What is TNR?
Trap-Neuter-Return, or “TNR,” is the most humane and effective method known for managing feral cats and reducing their suffering. The cats, who typically live together in a group called a colony, are gently trapped and brought to a veterinary clinic. They are then spayed or neutered, given appropriate vaccinations, eartipped and returned to their colony.
what should i do if i see kittens?

The choice of action depends upon the age of the kittens. Kittens’ best chance of survival is the care of their mama cat. It’s always wisest to leave the kittens and mama alone and contact us so we can guide you with our knowledge and expertise. We will make every attempt to humanely trap the entire family to keep trauma to a minimum. Interacting, messing with the nest, or trimming away foliage will cause mama to move her kittens, making humane intervention more difficult.

feral or stray?

First of all, all cats may act defensively (hissing or growling) around humans when frightened or stressed. Therefore, this behavior may or may not indicate whether a cat is feral. Typically, the term Feral is a term applied to cats who demonstrate a certain set of behaviors. They will often remain in hiding during daylight and stay in a group of other cats. Stray cats are often seen during the day, tend to travel alone, and often look unkept because they are stressed from being out of their indoor home.

what does it take to be a foster?

There are a variety of foster home scenarios ranging from a single adult cat to a feral mama cat and her kittens. We will teach you whatever you need to know to handle the foster situation best suited for your lifestyle and your home. We have a well-designed  foster training  program to get you up and running.
